,p>Oklahoma announced it’s depth chart for this weekend’s season opener against Louisiana Tech, and Bell is listed as the team’s starting tight end.

More importantly, Bell isn’t listed on the quarterback depth chart. Cody Thomas is the backup and Justice Hansen is third string.

There was some concern about the quarterbacking position last week when Oklahoman reporter Jason Kersey reported that Bell, who competed with Knight for the starting quarterback role last season, was “splitting some of his time this week in practice.” Kersey noted those reps had been limited and against the Sooners’ second-team defense.
Kersey also reported that Thomas, who Stoops had said all along was the No. 2 quarterback, had an undisclosed injury, but that the injury wasn’t believed to be serious.
Bell made eight starts at quarterback last season before Knight eventually took hold of the position. Bell had spent the past two seasons as a quarterback, but made the transition to tight end in the spring. Obviously, the move to tight end was a good one as he’s earned the start at least for the opening game of the season.
