Ohio State helmet stolen from football building
Hey Ohio State fans, keep an eye out for a missing Buckeyes helmet in Columbus.
A staff member at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center reported the theft of a chrome game-worn Ohio State football helmet on Sunday night.
According to The Lantern, the helmet “has the number 32 on the back and the number 123 written on the inside in marker.” If you’re wondering, No. 32 on the current OSU team is senior walk-on long-snapper Russell Doup.
Police say the helmet is valued at $717. Yep, $717 for one helmet! It must be the chrome.
That price gives you a bit of perspective on the kind of money these big programs spend on equipment. Most programs have a handful of different helmet and uniform combinations, too.
That’s a lot of money.

Here's the remaining schedule for College Football Playoff candidates (Photo)
With a crazy Saturday of football approaching where we'll have six matchups of ranked teams, the College Football Playoff Rankings are going to look at lot different next Tuesday.
But don't worry, we've got you covered. Here's a handy infographic of the schedules of all the teams with a chance at the College Football Playoff. As you can see, the top five teams control their own destiny thanks to the schedule. The rest need help, though it ranges from a little (TCU) to a lot (Baylor).
Oregon State can be the ultimate spoiler, too. They're the only unranked team to have two matchups with teams in the top 12 (Oregon and Arizona State).

The Dr. Saturday Podcast: Week 2 of the College Football Playoff Rankings
Welcome to the Dr. Saturday Podcast! Throughout the season we'll be talking weekly about whatever is going on in the world of college football. This week, join Graham Watson and Nick Bromberg as we break down the yet another set of College Football Rankings. It's still a pointless exercise, but someone has to do it. We'll also discuss:
• The best games of what's setting up to be an epic weekend of college football, including the matchup of Kansas State and TCU, Alabama and LSU, Oregon and Utah, Notre Dame and Arizona State and Ohio State and Michigan State.
• Buy or sell a Pac-12 team making the playoff, Jameis Winston facing punishment from his code of conduct hearing before the season is over and Michigan State being at its ceiling in the rankings.
• Plus, our one big prediction from the weekend. It's, literally, a dog and pony show.

B.J Catalon, TCU's top RB, has not practiced this week
Could TCU be without its top rusher on Saturday?
Horned Frogs head coach Gary Paterson said Wednesday that tailback B.J. Catalon has not been able to practice at all this week. According to the Star-Telegram, the junior took a hard hit “to the upper torso” late in the win over West Virginia and struggled to the sideline.
Per PurpleMenace.com, Catalon is listed as questionable for the sixth-ranked Horned Frogs’ home showdown with No. 7 Kansas State Saturday night.
Through eight games, Catalon has 493 yards and 10 touchdowns along with 14 catches for 163 yards and a score. If he can’t go, that’d be a big loss for the high-powered TCU offense. Junior Aaron Green (45 rushes, 378 yards, 3 TDs) would likely start in his place.
Kansas State (7-1) sits atop the Big 12 currently with a perfect 5-0 conference record. TCU (7-1) and Baylor (7-1) are next in the conference standings at 4-1, but the Bears’ Oct. 11 win over TCU gives them the tiebreaker.
Saturday night’s game is huge for TCU’s chances of winning the Big 12 and earning a spot in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings.

Will TCU or Kansas State deviate from the turnover trends on Saturday?
It's not a coincidence that the turnovers are strongly correlated with success -- just ask Texas Tech, which is 0-14-3 in the turnover battle in its last 17 games. In those 17 games, the Red Raiders are 6-11.
TCU and Kansas State, two of the top teams in the Big 12, are at the other end of the turnover spectrum. TCU is +15 in turnovers this season, forcing 26 while only turning the ball over 11 times. It's the best turnover margin in FBS. Kansas State has only turned the ball over seven times; tied for seventh in FBS.
It's not a stretch to believe that Saturday's game between the Horned Frogs and WIldcats will be decided by which team deviates furthest from its season trend.
"They don't turn the ball over much," TCU coach Gary Patterson said. "You have to find a way to win and score one more point. They do a great job. Because of our mindset, this will be a different team than they have played the last two years. Both of us can play ground and pound or play action. It's a little different animal."
Last week against Oklahoma State, Kansas State had just one official turnover, a pick-six thrown by backup quarterback Joe Hubener when the Wildcats were up 45-7 in the fourth quarter. But while Kansas State has been good protecting the football, it's only forced half the turnovers (13) TCU has.
"We have been reasonably productive with not turning the ball over, but we had not created a substantial amount of turnovers," Kansas State coach Bill Snyder said. "I think that has elevated a little bit. We have continued to be reasonably possessive with the ball. We had the interception that Joe threw the other night. When you pull the wire out of it, it really was not his responsibility, but nevertheless, he threw it and got credit for it. Jake (Waters) had one but then got hit. That was a bad throw on his part and he realizes that. That was not the decision - he just made a bad throw."
TCU is No. 6 in the College Football Playoff Rankings and Kansas State is No. 7. The winner not only becomes the highest team in the CFP poll, but, depending on Baylor's game against Oklahoma, also assumes control of the Big 12. If the Bears lose to the Sooners, and TCU wins, it'll have a tiebreaker over Kansas State and a game over both Baylor and Oklahoma. If Kansas State wins, the Wildcats will have at least a game on everyone in the conference with a trip to Baylor still looming.
Three of Kansas State's last four games are on the road and include a trip to West Virginia on November 20. TCU's already been through the gauntlet of its schedule. The final three games for the Horned Frogs are against Kansas, Texas and Iowa State.
"I think that the whole team has accepted the challenge, we are playing some really tough teams coming up," Kansas State defensive back Morgan Burns said. "I do not think that we are nervous about that. I think that if we have come to this point, playing teams like Oklahoma State and Texas, even though their records are not great, they are still great teams that have had a lot of success in the past. I think that if we overlook any team in the Big 12, they can beat you on any given day. I am excited for this stretch, the challenge that we have and the opportunity we have to do something really special."

Braxton Miller tweets he's never heard of Taiwan Jones
Braxton Miller volleyed back at Michigan State LB Taiwan Jones on Wednesday.
Miller, without mentioning Jones by name, said on Twitter that he had never heard of the linebacker.
Never heard of the kid #34 🐸☕️ 4 yrs unnoticed. http://ift.tt/1tdFiYh
— BRAXTON MILLER (@BraxtonMiller5) November 5, 2014
Michigan State plays Ohio State on Saturday and earlier in the week, Jones said that QB J.T. Barrett was a better quarterback for Ohio State's offense than Miller was.
Barrett has started the whole season for Ohio State after Miller reinjured his shoulder before the season began, so unfortunately, we won't get to see Miller and Jones settle this on the field.
If you're wondering, Barrett has thrown for 1,856 yards, 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions in eight games while running for 296 yards. Miller threw for 2,094 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 11 games last year with 1,068 rushing yards. So Barrett's stats stack up favorably. And if he beats Michigan State on Saturday in East Lansing, he'll probably reinforce Jones' thinking.
