Ole Miss hoping 'Good Bo' Wallace continues to show up
From here on out, Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace would just like to be known as “Good Bo.”
Throughout his time with the Rebels, Wallace’s first name has always had a qualifier of either “Good Bo” or “Bad Bo.” But after leading the Rebels to back-to-back wins against ranked Alabama and Texas A&M teams, Wallace thinks it’s time to drop the negative adjective.
"That thing's the most annoying thing I've ever heard," Wallace said following the Alabama win. "I also feel like I'm the only quarterback in the nation that throws interceptions. Hopefully I can be 'Good Bo' the rest of the year."
While Wallace has been playing well as of late — 511 total yards and six total touchdowns against the Tide and Aggies — things haven’t gone that smoothly against opponents outside of the rankings.
He threw three interceptions in the season opener against Boise State and another two against Memphis. In both of those contests, Wallace’s mistakes kept those games close until the Rebels were able to pull away in the fourth quarter.
So, despite Wallace’s insistence that he’s a changed player and his strong performances the past couple weeks, it’s difficult not to wonder if “Bad Bo” might surface again this week against a Tennessee team that’s winless in the SEC so far this season.
The Vols have one thing in common with Boise State and Memphis — a strong defense. In fact, Tennessee might have the most complete defense the Rebels have faced this season. It’s limiting teams to just 160 passing yards per game and 19.2 points per game. It has nine interceptions — at least one in all but one game this season — and 13 pass breakups. It’s also recovered five fumbles this year.
If there’s any team that could cause “Bad Bo” to creep back in, it would be Tennessee, especially with a game against LSU on the horizon.
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze defended his quarterback’s (sometimes) erratic play this week by saying it was the play calling that put Wallace in some of the positions where he threw interceptions. He noted that things had gotten better the past couple weeks and that Wallace will need to stay on an upward trend for the Rebels to win the conference.
“Probably I've called better plays for him,” Freeze said. “He probably would have made the same play in the first half if I was smart enough to get it called… I think Bo has done really well. I've probably just given him better options in the second half. He hasn't turned it over in SEC games yet. That's something that you have to do to win in this league.”

Miss. St. QB Dak Prescott says he'll enter the 2015 NFL draft if he's a first-round pick
Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott said he would declare for the 2015 NFL draft if he received a first-round draft evaluation grade, according to Sports Illustrated.
"One of the worst things is not going, getting injured and hurting your situation," Prescott said. "I wouldn't risk it if I had a chance to go in the first round. I'm graduating college, and my time here will be done, I'll do exactly what I wanted to do."
Prescott, a fourth-year junior, is in his first year as a fulltime starter and has emerged as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner following three consecutive wins against top-10 teams. He has completed 96 of 156 passes this season for 1,478 yards with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions and led the Bulldogs to their first-ever No. 1 ranking.
If things continue to go well for Mississippi State, it could find itself in the inaugural College Football Playoff, and Prescott could be hoisting the bronze statue. A fitting completion, he said, to his career as a Bulldog.
"When the time came and there's an option, first, second or third round and I had the season I wanted to have, I'd go," Prescott said. “If they're saying first-round pick, of course my family could use (the money). It's a dream come true."

Virginia's Mike London says no 'musical chairs' at quarterback against Duke
Virginia is the only team in the ACC Coastal and the only other team in the entire ACC outside of Florida State undefeated in conference play.
The Cavaliers are 2-0 after wins against Louisville and Pitt. But both of those games were at home. Saturday's game against Duke is the first road conference game of the year, and Virginia coach Mike London said he doesn't plan on playing "musical chairs" at QB.
Again, the game situation dictates that. It's not going to be musical chairs as far as who is in, who is out," London said. "What has worked for us is we have had two guys that played in some games here ... we'll be able to evaluate where we are with Greyson [Lambert], where he is physically with his health. The best way to find that out is when he goes in the game."
Lambert was Virginia's starter at the beginning of the season. However, he suffered a sprained ankle against BYU and was replaced by Matt Johns, who subsequently started against Kent State and Pitt.
Before the season, London was looking at a two-QB system. But Johns didn't play against BYU until Lambert was hurt. Now that both QBs are healthy, it appears Lambert will get a chance to regain his job.
I feel good about the quarterbacks we have," London said. "Greyson was our starter prior to getting hurt. Matt has stepped in the last couple games here to be very productive. Greyson will come back again and see if he maintains the level of production that's expected for a starter."
Last week, Duke spoiled Georgia Tech's undefeated season. Can the Blue Devils spoil another unbeaten team's season on Saturday?
Duke's 31-25 win over Georgia Tech came after Duke coach David Cutcliffe said that Tech had a hard time recruiting "high-end" players because of its offensive system. The Blue Devils forced three turnovers to knock Georgia Tech from the ranks of the unbeaten.
Cutcliffe said his team was becoming more physical. A second-straight win would give the Blue Devils a significant edge in the Coastal Division race.
I think we’re gaining ground in that regard," Cutcliffe said. "I think we recruit a little bit of a more physical player. I mentioned to each one of our strength and conditioning coaches just how exceptional our physicality looked and we managed ourselves well. Our strength was evident. We’re a little more physical on both lines of scrimmage. There are a lot of people involved in that.”

Michigan regent said board will discuss the future of AD Dave Brandon
The future of Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon will be one of the topics of discussion during a previously scheduled board of regents meeting on Thursday.
Brandon has been the center of controversy following the athletic department acknowledging it made mistakes in the handling of quarterback Shane Morris, who suffered a head injury during a game against Minnesota on Sept. 27.
Morris was allowed to stay in the game despite stumbling around with a clear injury. Then, after being taken out for examination, Morris was reinserted into the game to take a handoff while backup Devin Gardner missed a play for losing his helmet.
"The systems failed and there are a lot of issues we have to review," regent Denise Ilitch told WWJ CBS TV in Detroit.
Coach Brady Hoke has been in the same crosshairs as Brandon not only for the Morris situation, but also for the Wolverines poor performance on the field. Michigan is in the midst of what is shaping up to be the worst football season in school history. Hoke is in his fourth season with the program and every year the program’s record has been worse. Many don’t expect Hoke to be retained after this year.
According the ESPN's Brett McMurphy, someone on Michigan’s behalf has already starting gauging the interest of possible replacements for Brandon.

Three Ball State players involved in leaving feces-smeared money for a waitress
Three Ball State players were involved in an incident at a local restaurant in which a member of their dining party attempted to pay the bill with money covered in fecal matter.
According to the Muncie Police report, defensive back Darius Conaway, defensive lineman Kennan Noel and linebacker Nicholas Isaacs were listed as three of six “subjects that were allegedly causing the problems” around noon Sunday.
The suspect, a 17 year old, left their table, which was also occupied by the three Ball State football players, and went into the bathroom after their waitress gave him his bill, according to the police report. After returning to the table he put the money into the black folder, according to police who sourced a security video of the event.
The group’s waitress told police she saw the suspect laughing when she picked up the check and smelled a “foul odor.” She said two of the bills were covered in a brown substance that she later realized was fecal matter.
The 17-year-old male was still at the restaurant when police arrived and was taken to Delaware County Juvenile Probation Center and charged with battery with bodily waste.
Ball State said it was aware of the allegations and was handling the matter.
"We find the alleged actions deplorable," Joseph Hernandez, associate athletic director for media and alumni relations, told the Ball State Daily." We are continuing to collect information on the matter and will refrain from further judgment until then."

Bo Jackson: Jameis Winston needs to make some changes
Bo Jackson doesn't approve of the way Jameis Winston has been acting.
The former two-sport star and 1985 Heisman Trophy winner said on the Jime Rome Show Tuesday that he's given Winston advice. Winston and Jackson both grew up in Bessemer, Ala. He said he talked with Winston after he was suspended from FSU's baseball team. But hasn't spoken with him since.
"I really don’t know who is giving this young man guidance," Jackson said. "I have attempted -- I have communicated with him and I just talked with him like I was his dad. The things that you need to do. And this was before the incident where he was [suspended] from the baseball team and to be honest with you I really haven’t talked with him since. I am the type of person, I will go out of my way to help anybody. But if you don’t take my advice — normally I don’t like giving people advice if I haven’t been down that road myself. But if I give you advice on something that I know more about than you by just falling out of bed in the morning, if you can’t take that advice and learn from it, then I’ve got nothing else to do with the situation. You’re on your own.”
You can listen to the full interview here.
Winston, is currently facing a Florida State code of conduct hearing for his role in an alleged sexual assault in December 2012. (He was never charged with a crime) The suspension from the baseball team was after he took crab legs and crawfish from a grocery store in the spring. He was suspended for a game against Clemson in September for standing on a table in the student union and yelling an obscene phrase, and he's also reportedly been involved in two BB gun incidents.
Jackson, while admitting he wasn't a saint himself, said he knew he needed to keep himself on the straight and narrow because of his status as a popular figure. While all of the incidents at Florida State haven't seemed to derail his focus on the field, NFL teams are taking note.
"Jameis Winston needs to make some changes in his life," Jackson said. "Because it’s affecting him now and it’s definitely going to affect him down the road."
Rome also asked Jackson what he told Jameis. He declined to elaborate on the specific topics of the discussion.
"That’s between Jameis and myself," Jackson said. "If I told you what I told him, it’ll probably singe the hairs in your ears."

Georgia fans make a song to express feelings about Todd Gurley's suspension (Video)
The suspension of Georgia running back Todd Gurley for allegedly signing memorabilia for money has hit Georgia fans hard.
Gurley was the offensive lifeblood of the team and a Heisman candidate (some would say a shoo-in to win), so two Georgia grads decided to vent their feelings about Gurley’s absence in a song.
John Hunter Bowen and Ross van Zyl, who graduated in 2013, started the #FreeGurley social media campaign and wrote a three minute song to express their disappointment in Gurley’s suspension.
It’s brilliant and has a Saturday Night Live digital short feel to it.
Usually fan songs can be lame and ridiculous, but this one has good music and the lyrics are clever. We can only hope Gurley hears it and realizes just how deeply his suspension has affected some fans.
