VOD: Meet North Carolina's 'Supervisor of Morale' Caleb Pressley
Today’s video of the day looks at North Carolina and former backup quarterback Caleb Pressley.
Pressley is the self-appointed “Supervisor of Morale” for the Tar Heels and is often seen on the North Carolina sidelines wearing NFL jerseys of former North Carolina players.
Pressley’s job is simple — increase morale and signal in plays from the sideline.
"I do signal in plays, but the rest of the time I take it upon myself to be what other people need me to be," Pressley told USA Today. "I know everyone so well because I've been here for four years. I obviously know the quarterbacks really well. Part of it is building relationships and knowing what people need you to be — and being that for them.”
ESPN did a lengthy interview with Pressley, who is technically a student manager, in which he explains his position and the challenges that go along with it..
No doubt Pressley’s job was difficult this week as the Tar Heels tried to shake off a 70-41 loss to East Carolina and focus on this week’s game against Clemson. But it’s these tough times in which Pressley embraces his role the most.
"It's just cool. No one's argued it,” Pressley told USA Today. “I think I've lived up to the title."

Oklahoma's Nila Kasitati and Jed Barnett serenade a fan at the children's hospital (Video)
Football feelgood posts have been hard to come by in the past few weeks, that’s why we’re happy a couple Oklahoma players decided to stop by the Children’s Hospital at the OU Medical Center and provide us one.
Offensive lineman Nila Kasitati and punter Jed Barnett spent their Wednesday playing music for a young fan in need of a kidney transplant at the hospital. In this particular video, the duo knocks out Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning.” Maybe not the most child-friendly song, but hey, they did it well and the boy's mother posted the video on her Facebook page.
They also sang a little Coldplay and Howie Day’s “Collide” while showing some fantastic skills on the guitar and ukulele.
We all know how much the demand of school and football weight on these guys, so to take a couple hours out of their day and provide joy to a young fan in need is a pretty awesome thing.

Will Muschamp's wife, Carol, is an angry kickboxer (Video)
ESPN’s College GameDay teased a feature for Saturday’s program on the wives of SEC coaches. It actually looks really interesting as it shows the way each woman supports their husband and their team.
While the entire piece won’t be released until Saturday, we decided to embed the videos of a couple of the more interesting stories.
Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and his wife Kristi hit up the Waffle House after wins:
Wife of Arkansas coach Bret Bielema has two small dogs that she dresses in cheerleading outfits (and no one is surprised):
Katharyn Richt, wife of Georgia’s Mark Richt, teaches us the nuances of mixing Powerade:
And Carol Muschamp, wife of Florida coach Will Muschamp, will beat the crap out of you:
Other wives featured include Megan Mullen, wife of Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen; Jerri Spurrier, wife of South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier; Kathy Miles, wife of LSU’s Les Miles; Terry Saban, wife of Alabama’s Nick Saban; and Jill Freeze, wife of Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze.

Spread Options: Dr. Saturday's Week 5 picks against the spread
Another winning week.
A 6-4 week four means I'm creeping closer and closer to .500. Yes, it's a creep, not a sprint. Through four weeks, I'm now 14-26. But the fade button is now off.
There are a lot of big lines this week. It'll likely be the last time we see pointspreads like this all season. When conference play starts in earnest, things will be listed much closer. Let's get started.
Middle Tennessee at Old Dominion (-3.5), 8 p.m. ET FRIDAY: What's a Friday night Conference-USA game without a uniform disagreement? Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill apparently made the decision to have his team wear white instead of allowing Old Dominion's request to wear white at home for its white-out game. Uniforms have no bearing on the outcome of this one, but I'm taking what's sure to be a jazzed-up Monarch team at it's first C-USA home game and first Friday night home game.
Tennessee (+17) at Georgia, Noon ET: Oklahoma hasn't taught me anything about taking Tennessee as a big road underdog, apparently. The Dawgs should win and it should be fairly comfortable, but this is a hunch conference play. If Tennessee is going to make some strides this year in the SEC East (and this is the year to do it) being competitive on the road is a must.
Wyoming (+28) at Michigan State, Noon ET: The Cowboys covered at Oregon though the line was 13 points higher than it is here. This should be an easy Michigan State win, but it won't be a blowout. Craig Bohl has this Wyoming team set for a bowl game and much like the Oregon game, this one will be closer for a lot longer than some people think.
Maryland at Indiana (UNDER 69.5), 1:30 p.m. ET: Can the Hoosiers follow up with a statement win on the road against Missouri with a Big Ten win at home? I'm not sure, which is why I'm avoiding Indiana -3.5. Both offenses can be proficient, but so far this season they would have only combined to meet this number once. That was on September 13 when Maryland lost to West Virginia and Indiana lost to Bowling Green, opposing teams with defenses worse than what we'll see in this game. This will be more 31-27 than 45-42.
Florida State (-18.5) at North Carolina State, 3:30 p.m. ET: A 3-0 team giving more than two touchdowns on the road to a 4-0 team seems like a sucker bet, right? The Seminoles are actually 0-3 against the spread this season. If FSU had a win or two against the line, this would be even higher. Don't discount Jameis Winston's on-field performance and it wouldn't be surprising to see a statement win of sorts from Florida State here. Winston goes for 350 yards and four touchdowns. It was a good undefeated run, N.C. State.
Minnesota (+13) at Michigan, 3:30 p.m. ET: I'd take Minnesota straight up if forced to choose between the two, so getting almost two touchdowns is a nice gift. Michigan's rush defense will keep it in the football game though. The Wolverines are giving up 80 YPG on the ground, and calling Minnesota a ground-based team isn't descriptive enough. The Gophers have thrown 65 passes all season while Michigan hasn't lit it up through the air as well. There's a reason the O/U is 43. When a number's that low, it feels mandatory to take the points when the number is so big.
Arkansas vs. Texas A&M (-9), 3:30 p.m. ET: Look for a shootout in this game. Arkansas has hit big plays with its run game and we all know what the Texas A&M offense can do. But A&M's rush defense (125 YPG) is much better than Texas Tech's (294 YPG) and the Aggies are a much more balanced offense as well. Arkansas won't be able to sell out against the pass on defense and will be forced to sell the run game if A&M jumps out to a big lead. It's not a blowout, but A&M covers.
Texas (-12) vs. Kansas, 3:30 p.m. ET: This has been touted as Kansas' best chance for a win over Texas even though the Jayhawks are double-digit underdogs at home. And quite frankly, it may be. But it's not saying much. While Kansas has found success running the football, Montell Cozart's arm (55 percent passing, 6 yards per attempt) isn't enough for Texas (89th in rushing defense) to not focus solely on stopping the run. It's not pretty, but the Longhorns take care of business.
Duke (+6.5) at Miami, 7:30 p.m. ET: The Blue Devils put themselves in a position for the ACC Championship Game last year with a win over the Hurricanes. This year, Duke is 4-0 and David Cutcliffe has shown his adaptability as a coach. Last season, Duke threw for 1,000 more yards than it ran for. This year, Duke has more passing yards than rushing yards. The offensive balance is too much for Miami and the heat in Miami starts coming from more than just the sun.
Oregon State at USC (-9), 10:30 p.m. ET: Bounceback game alert. After a miserable trip to Boston College and a bye week, look for the Trojans to storm out to a big lead. USC may not be as good as people thought after beating Stanford, but it's not as low as it looked against Boston College.

Michigan State's Macgarrett Kings Jr. wants a touchdown or two for his birthday
Michigan State plays Wyoming on Saturday, a day that's also Michigan State WR Macgarrett Kings Jr.'s 21st birthday. Kings has a pretty straightforward birthday wish.
"I’m calling a punt return for Saturday," Kings said via MLive.com. "I’ve got to get in the end zone. I’ve got to score a couple of touchdowns, for my mom and my dad.’"
That's a prospect that's easier said than done. Kings hasn't exactly been finding the end zone on a regular basis. He hasn't scored a touchdown this season and his last TD in 2013 was against Iowa on October 5. It's been almost a year. He has four catches and six punt returns this season.
However, he's now listed as a co-starter at receiver for Michigan State and wants a chance to show off his skills. You only turn 21, once, right? What better way to guarantee a great birthday than with a trip to the end zone (and a Spartan win)?
"I'm not trying to sound cocky, but I know I’m a talented kid," Kings said, "So I try to work on everything and not take anything for granted. I know I can back it up, I just need a couple blocks on the punt return and I’m in there and then a good throw from Connor (Cook), and I’ll take it in there.’"
He should be careful on the punt return; we've all seen how bad things can happen
And while we appreciate Kings' attempt at humility and the desire to score for his parents, it's the type of birthday wish that probably goes best unsaid, at least publicly. Now if Kings doesn't score, he'll get questions about his pregame prediction. Had he not said anything and then scored a TD or two, he could fully play up the unexpected birthday present angle.
Now we'll all be waiting to see if his wish comes true. Michigan State kicks off against Wyoming at Noon ET.

Louisville's Will Gardner officially out for Wake Forest game, Reggie Bonnafon to start
Louisville QB Will Gardner will miss Saturday's game against Wake Forest.
Coach Bobby Petrino made the announcement after Thursday's practice. Gardner was listed as questionable with a left knee injury he suffered against Florida International.
"He has responded well to treatment," Petrino said Thursday. "He is doing a lot better, but he was not cleared from the medical staff.
Gardner was replaced in the FIU game by Brett Nelson, but backup QB Reggie Bonnafon will get the start against Wake Forest. Bonnafon missed the game against FIU after his father's death earlier in the week.
"Since the day [Bonnafon]'s got here, he's been very mature, been a quick learner," Petrino said. "He's very competitive, every time we've put him in the game he's executed well. He understands what we're trying to do. He adds a little bit of different flavor in the fact that he's very athletic and can run."
Bonnafon was a three-star recruit in the class of 2014. He played QB at Trinity High School in Louisville, the same school where former Louisville QBs Jeff and Brian Brohm played. He's completed 14-20 passes so far this season for 151 yards and a touchdown with six carries for 21 yards.
Gardnery is 63-112 passing this season for 798 yards, eight TDs and two interceptions.

Colorado State wants to explore options after stadium fundraising is short of goal
Colorado State isn't currently going forward with on-campus stadium plans after the school revealed that fundraising goals were not met.
Colorado State President Tony Frank said Thursday the school had raised $50 million of the $110 million goal to build a new stadium. The overall project cost is estimated to be $254 million and the school wanted to meet the goal of $110 million by October.
The Rams currently play at Hughes Stadium, a site that is three miles away from campus.
Frank will not ask the Board of Governors at its meeting next week to approve a financing plan for the project. Instead, he'll ask the board to give him an additional two months to further study "at least four options" before making a final recommendation at the board's December meeting in Denver.
Frank, through a CSU spokesman, said he would have no further comment until the Board of Governors meeting. Former CSU athletic director Jack Graham, who continued to push for an on-campus stadium even after he was fired by Frank in August, did not respond to messages left on his cellphone. Football coach Jim McElwain, who was traveling with his team to Boston College for a game Saturday, was not available for comment.
Shortly after he was fired, Graham said his dismissal was all about the on-campus stadium project. When the school announced Graham's firing, Frank said in an email to boosters that the decision to terminate Graham did not have to do with the stadium project and the two had substantial differences.
Of the four options Frank wants to consider, according to the Coloradoan, two involve renovations to Huges Stadium. The stadium is 46 years old and seats 32,500. The two other options involve building a stadium on campus that would not be strictly a football stadium.
If the Board of Governors approves Frank's motion to explore the four options, he plans a written analysis of all options and says public feedback will be sought. The project has already cost $6.5 million.

Ohio State to have moment of silence for Cincinnati's Chamoda Kennedy-Palmore
Ohio State announced Thursday night that it would have a moment of silence for Cincinnati RB Chamoda Kennedy-Palmore, who died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday.
The Bearcats visit the Buckeyes and the moment of silence will happen before the game.
Kennedy-Palmore was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a car. According to GoBearcats.com, he was wearing all required protective equipment.
Kennedy-Palmore is a native of Liberty Township, Ohio and went to Lakota East High School. He walked on at Cincinnati and redshirted in 2013. Tragically, he's the second Bearcat to die in an auto accident in just over a year. Last year, OL Ben Flick died in a car crash and WRs Mark Barr and Javon Harrison were hurt.
Earlier in the week, the Cincinnati announced that it would have the state of Ohio on its helmets against the Buckeyes. While it the state is there because the Bearcats are playing an in-state rival, Ohio's presence is now a poignant one after the Buckeyes' sign of solidarity with the moment of silence.
