Hey Ohio State fans, keep an eye out for a missing Buckeyes helmet in Columbus.
A staff member at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center reported the theft of a chrome game-worn Ohio State football helmet on Sunday night.
According to The Lantern, the helmet “has the number 32 on the back and the number 123 written on the inside in marker.” If you’re wondering, No. 32 on the current OSU team is senior walk-on long-snapper Russell Doup.
Police say the helmet is valued at $717. Yep, $717 for one helmet! It must be the chrome.
That price gives you a bit of perspective on the kind of money these big programs spend on equipment. Most programs have a handful of different helmet and uniform combinations, too.
That’s a lot of money.
