Looking forward to watching Rutgers-Washington State this opening weekend? How about Colorado-Colorado State or North Dakota State and Iowa State? Perhaps you’re a fan of SMU or Baylor? Well, if you have Dish Network, you’re not going to get these games.
Sorry.
According to the website dishsportsvalue.com, the television provider is in a dispute with Fox Sports 1 and the price it’s charging to show college football games this season. As a result, Dish Network says it won’t be showing any college football games on FS1 until the dispute is resolved, which could take all season.
Unfortunately, you're visiting this website because a FOX Sports 1 event is not available on DISH. FOX agreed to pay an inflated price for certain sports events on FOX Sports 1. Now, FOX is demanding we pay them a significant additional charge to carry these events. We are unwilling to pass these costs on to our customers.
The site goes on to note that it won’t be able to show the games I mentioned above, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If the dispute continues, Dish Network will miss a handful of Pac-12 and Big 12 games.
Of course, when Dish Network subscribers from the College Football-loving world got wind of this, Dish Network’s Twitter feed @dish_answers went into damage control mode.

This is truly a strange situation and it’s weird that no other provider is noting similar issues with FS1 or at least not going to battle over it. My monthly DirecTV bill might have gone up, but not so much that it’s been noticeable. And honestly, if that gets me the games on FS1 (because I don’t get Pac-12 Network) then I’m OK with it.
Not sure how many customers Dish Network is actually going to lose over this because it is a small amount of games that aren’t available, but if it continues to press on, especially as important games within the Big 12 and Pac-12 begin, things might get ugly.
What say you, Dish Network customers?
Thanks to Awful Announcing
