Did you think the colors on Florida State's new away uniforms looked a little odd when the Seminoles played Oklahoma State? You were not alone.
The Seminoles' away uniform will undergo some midseason changes. The helmet will be tweaked as well, and it'll be different in time for FSU's game against Clemson on September 20. The changes primarily center around making the garnet and gold on the uniforms, well, more garnet and gold.
Senior associate athletic director Monk Bonasorte confirmed to Warchant.com on Saturday that the gold helmets will be painted darker before the Seminoles take the field on Sept. 20 against Clemson. The facemasks also are expected to be returned to the proper shade of garnet.
"We made a commitment to get everything sent off on Monday, since we have an open week and we'll make the adjustments we need to make," Bonasorte said before FSU's game against The Citadel.
The biggest change to the away uniforms will be garnet numbers instead of gold numbers. According to Warchant, the school knew of gold-on-white issues and were planning on making changes before a potential bowl game. However those changes will be accelerated. Florida State has four more games where it would potentially wear white.
The facemask paint on FSU helmets was peeling during the Oklahoma State game and the school said the color was already changed for the game against The Citadel. The top picture is from the game against The Citadel while the bottom picture is from the Oklahoma State game.
