Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin warned his team about Arkansas’ special teams and that the Razorbacks could try a fake.
Sadly, no one listened.
With just more than a minute remaining in the first half, Arkansas punter Sam Irwin-Hill took the snap, rushed to his left and realized he had nothing but green grass between him and the end zone. With a row of blockers in front of him, Irwin-Hill ran 51 yards for the score, which gave the Razorbacks a 21-14 lead at the half.
“I knew they would crowd in there, Sam’s a good athlete and I knew we could get the edge,” coach Bret Bielema said during the halftime interview.
That play gave Arkansas much-needed momentum heading into the half as the Razorbacks shoot for the upset and their first win against an SEC opponent since Oct. 12, 2012.
