After falling behind early against Louisiana-Monroe, Kentucky was able to build up a comfortable lead thanks in part to senior wide receiver Javess Blue.
Blue scored on an 83-yard catch and run for a score early in the second quarter, but his 21-yard TD catch from Patrick Towles in the third quarter was one of the better catches of the year and extended the Wildcats’ lead to 31-14.
As you can see, Towles found Blue on a deep slant, but with a Warhawks defensive back in tight coverage, Blue managed to deflect the ball to himself with his right hand, then corral it against his shoulder pad with the same hand while staying in bounds.
That is some incredible concentration.
Blue had no touchdown catches so far this season, but he really came to play Saturday afternoon to register his first two scores of the season in a 48-14 Kentucky win. Blue finished with three catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
