QB Jimmy Greenwood reportedly walks on at Texas

Texas has reportedly added walk-on QB Jimmy Greenwood.

Normally, that wouldn't be a story. But Texas could use another QB given its situation. Starter David Ash may never play again after concussions and sophomore Tyrone Swoopes is unproven. Yet he's the most experienced healthy QB on Texas' roster. That counts senior Miles Onyegbule, who moved to QB during spring practice.

Healthy and capable players are at a premium, especially at the QB position.

A rumor on the Orangebloods message board is that Greenwood was approached by the Texas coaching staff about walking on. SB Nation's Burnt Orange Nation couldn't confirm that with a source, but did say Greenwood has walked onto the team.

If Texas did approach Greenwood about joining the team, do you blame them? If you're struggling for quality, amassing quantity is a good way of approaching things. And besides, here's Greenwood's high school tape. Who knows what he could become. He could be just another body, or he could turn into Texas' Kurt Warner. It's a no-lose strategy, no matter who's choice it ultimately was regarding Greenwood joining the team.
