Sometimes athletic programs need to pull out all the stops to generate interest in a football team – especially when a team is coming off a terrible season. That’s where ideas like a “rooftop student club” come from.
Arkansas went 3-9 last year and did not win a single SEC game and on Tuesday the new “Razorback Rooftop” was announced.
Here’s how the program describes it:
The new Razorback Rooftop will provide University of Arkansas students an opportunity to sit together, socialize and mingle with friends while watching the best college football in the country. The Club will be located above the south end zone on the top deck which was used for student seating in past years.
The “club” will have a “live DJ, couches, TVs, and high-top tables,” among other amenities. For each home game, 2,000 wristbands will be made available for students who purchased an $85 “access pass.”
If it will get more students to attend the games, especially early season clunkers against Nicholls State and Northern Illinois, then it’s probably a good move for Arkansas. The rest of the team’s home slate includes games against Alabama, Georgia, UAB, LSU and Ole Miss.
