Miami athletic director reiterates support for Al Golden

Despite a late-season slide, Miami is sticking beside coach Al Golden.

On Tuesday, athletic director Blake James told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that “As I said last week, Al Golden is our coach and will continue to be our coach."

Questions about Golden's future arose as the Hurricanes ended the season with three straight losses to Florida State, Virginia and Pittsburgh.

The loss to Pitt was a 35-23 loss at home and put Miami at 6-6 on the season. Before losing three straight games, Miami had won three straight over Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.

Golden has been at Miami for four seasons and is 28-21 overall with a 16-16 mark in the ACC. He's finished 3-5 in two years in the ACC (including in 2014, as the Hurricanes finished in a tie for fifth in the Coastal Division) and 5-3 in two seasons. Last year, Miami went to the Russell Athletic Bowl and lost to Louisville.

As Miami was 3-3 and preparing to play Cincinnati, someone ponied up for a banner asking for Golden's dismissal to be flown over Sun Life Stadium.
