Quarterback Terrl Hunt suffered a broken leg during the contest and offensive coordinator/associate head coach George McDonald was relieved of his play-calling duties.

Hunt was injured late in the game and will miss four to six weeks. Austin Wilson replaced Hunt and is the likely starter for this week’s game against Florida State.

McDonald has been demoted to wide receivers coach. Quarterbacks coach Tim Lester has assumed the offensive coordinator duties and will call the plays.

"I've had to make a tough decision that has been less difficult to make because of the unselfishness of our teammate and coach George McDonald," Shafer said. "Let me start by saying I've never worked with a harder working and more devoted individual than George McDonald. I truly appreciate his devotion to the team.

"I've made the decision to change roles to use our staff's talents together more effectively. Coach Tim Lester will call the plays and coordinate the offense moving forward. He, George and the offensive staff will continue to work alongside one another striving to improve our offense together. Tim will take charge of the play calling and the development of our young quarterbacks. George will continue to coach our receiver unit."

The Syracuse offense, which returned eight starters, ranks 70th nationally in total offense with 411.4 yards per game and 105th in scoring offense with 21.6 points per game. Its passing offense is ranked 86th with just 213.6 yards per game.

The Orange is in the midst of the three-game losing streak and things won’t get any easier with No. 1 Florida State coming into town this weekend.
