Florida’s already tough week with law enforcement got a little worse on Monday evening when police were called to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to break up a fight between quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg and defensive lineman Gerald Willis.
University police were called to the outside of the stadium around 7 p.m. after receiving reports of the fight. By the time the police arrived, only one player was still there. Neither player pressed charges and no arrests were made.
It is unclear what the fight was about or how it started.
Florida announced earlier Monday that freshman quarterback Treon Harris, who was the primary backup and contending for the starting role, was indefinitely suspended from the team pending an investigation for sexual battery. No arrest has been made.
Mornhinweg is currently the backup quarterback to Jeff Driskel for Saturday’s game against LSU while Will Grier continues to deal with back spasms.
