Ohio State had absolutely no trouble handling Rutgers at home Saturday afternoon, and a highlight reel touchdown catch made by senior Evan Spencer put the cap on what will be a blowout win.
Already up 49-10 late in the third quarter, the Buckeyes were in the red zone again. On a second down play from the 11-yard line, quarterback J.T. Barrett took a shotgun snap and faked a handoff. He then saw Spencer open on a seam route. Barrett led Spencer a bit too much, but the 6-foot-2, 208-pound Spencer leaped and hauled in the pass with one handed.
Take a look:
The touchdown was the fifth of the day for Barrett (three throwing, two rushing) and the second touchdown of the season for Spencer.
The victory improves Ohio State’s record to 5-1 and 2-0 in Big Ten play heading into next Saturday’s road matchup at Penn State.
