Sen. Mary Landrieu tells any LSU keg-stand critics to 'get a life' (Photo)

During a tailgate for Saturday's Mississippi State-LSU game, Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) held the spigot for an LSU fan doing a kegstand.

Landrieu was making the rounds at tailgates as she's in the midst of a re-election campaign. She's facing U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy (R) in the general election in November.

If you're somehow unfamiliar with a keg-stand, it's exactly what the picture looks like. Someone is held upside down drinking a, uh, beverage from a keg. According to Mother Jones, it was Landrieu's first kegstand.

"My first keg stand," Landrieu says, as we walk away. "He wanted me to do it, but I said absolutely not—at least not in front of the national press." What if it would've won her some votes? "That's all right—I'm not that desperate."

Naturally, since this is an election cycle, Landrieu, a three-term senator, felt the need to publicly defend herself on Monday. According to Roll Call, she said the following about anyone wanting to criticize the keg stand.

“They need to get a sense of humor, and they need to get a life — it’s just the way we roll,”

She also said that the man doing the stand was a 28-year-old with a master's degree.

The photos are simply not a big deal. While keg-stands may not be viewed in the most flattering of lights, when you consider the host of controversies we've come to expect from politicians, this is something that barely registers a blip. If Landrieu loses to Cassidy, it won't be because of the photos. If it's related to Saturday at all, it's because LSU fans believe she was a jinx to the Tigers as Mississippi State won in Baton Rouge for the first time since 1991.
