East Carolina WR Cam Worthy suspended two games for school conduct code violation

East Carolina announced prior to its game against North Carolina on Saturday that star senior receiver Cam Worthy has been suspended two games for a school student code of conduct violation.

According to a release from the school, ECU’s Office of Rights and Responsibilities handed out the suspension during a review hearing prior to the game. The suspension is a result of an argument Worthy had with another male student this past summer.

Worthy has been suspended from all school activities through Oct. 4.

“Since I arrived at ECU we have always had a strong disciplinary response to any actions by our players,” McNeill said in the statement. “Cam is an outstanding young man with an exemplary record as a student and representative of our football program. His family has been involved and fully supportive throughout this process as has our entire football family.”

This is a huge blow to East Carolina. Worthy led the Pirates with 302 receiving yards and had six catches for 224 yards during the upset of Virginia Tech last week.
