Western Michigan has spent the past two weeks preparing to better last season’s 1-11 campaign, but took some time out of that preparation to provide a special moment to one of the Broncos biggest fans.
Last Thursday, as the team was doing situational drills in practice, quarterback Zach Terrell was joined by a new running back, wheelchair-bound John Mulhearn. Mulhearn is the son of Sean Mulhearn, a linebacker on Western Michigan’s 1988 Mid-American Conference championship team.
Terrell took the snap and handed it off Mulhearn while his father weaved him through Western Michigan defenders and into the end zone.
The entire team joined in the end zone for the celebration.
It was definitely a fantastic moment for a team that called the touchdown "the most meaningful points of the year."
