Texas' first practice in pads was full of hard hits (Video)

With all the news of players being suspended and dismissed at Texas over the last few weeks, I’m sure the Longhorns were chomping at the bit to finally strap on the pads and get to work in Charlie Strong’s first preseason camp at Texas.

Based on this video from the first day in full pads Friday, the team is adopting a no-nonsense personality reminiscent of its new head coach.

Strong has been working hard to establish a strong foundation and a renewed identity for the program. He wants his players to respect the history of the program and has been holding them to a higher standard.

Strong has taken away some of the staples of Texas football, including the Longhorn logo from the team’s white helmets as you can see in the video. He wants his players to work hard to “earn” the logos back.

It looks like the team is buying in to Strong’s approach.
