It’s not easy being an offensive lineman. The guys on the line do all the dirty work and get none of the hype like the skill position players. Also, during practice, linemen have to keep a keen eye out for flying footballs – just ask Missouri’s Evan Boehm.
While the Tigers were going through a drill, Boehm, the team’s starting center, seemed to get lost in thought as backup center Brad McNulty took his rep. When McNulty went to snap the ball to a staff member, Boehm, a junior, got in the way, and the ball hit him in a place where no man wants to be hit.
The staff member in the black t-shirt tried to get Boehm, a two-year starter, out of the way, but it was too late.
While we’re not ruling out that McNulty might have been trying to sabotage the guy directly above him on the depth chart, it was probably an honest mistake. Boehm will probably pay closer attention to the drill in the future.
