Morgan State freshman DL Marquese Meadow dies two weeks after collapsing on the field



Morgan State freshman defensive lineman Morgan Meadow died Sunday after being hospitalized for the past two weeks.


Morgan State freshman defensive lineman Marquese Meadow (morganstatebears.com) Meadow collapsed during a recent practice, Morgan State University spokesman Clint Coleman told the Baltimore Sun.


"He became disoriented during practice and the trainer called paramedics who initially transported him to Good Samaritan Hospital and then to Hopkins," Coleman said referring Johns Hopkins University where Meadow passed away.


Coleman told the Associated Press that Meadow had been improving, but took a turn for the worse on Saturday.


Meadow, an 18-year-old from Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C., had offers from Akron and Eastern Michigan, but chose to go to Morgan State to follow in his father’s footsteps.


Morgan State did not release a cause of death and funeral services are pending.
