The tenured Parker spent eight years at his alma mater, Michigan, prior to joining Texas Tech. In his time in Ann Arbor, Parker was the associate athletics director for development for three years at UM before being promoted to senior athletics director for development and corporate relations for his final five years at Michigan.
AT UM, Parker was a key cog on a four-person project that oversaw over $400 million in capital improvements, including a renovation to Michigan Stadium, the Ross Academic Center and seven other on-campus athletics facilities.
Per the Coloradoan, a news conference is scheduled for Tuesday to announce Parker's hire.
Parker's experience with facilities improvement is key for Colorado State, which had been in the midst of a debate about a new football stadium. Former athletic director Jack Graham parted ways with the school after he advocated for a new on-campus football stadium that wasn't meeting its fundraising goal.
However, after reviewing the options to replace or renovate Colorado State's current home, Hughes Stadium, committees at CSU endorsed an on-campus stadium as the most viable option. The stadium is expected to be completed before the 2017 season.
Parker's Power Five conference ties could also be a boon if Colorado State stays successful in football and basketball and is considered for conference expansion if there's another round of realignment. The Rams are currently in the Mountain West Conference.
