Former Nebraska DL coach arrested after domestic dispute



Former Nebraska defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski was charged Monday with third-degree assault following an incident at his residence Saturday evening to early Sunday morning.


According to police reports, Kaczenski, 40, struck his wife in the face with a picture frame during a dispute. His wife, 33, suffered a cut to her forehead and scratches on her face and neck. She did not need to go to a hospital for medical treatment.


Kaczenski denied to police he hurti his wife.


Kaczenski was arrested Sunday and officially charged Monday. He was released on bond Monday evening, but is not allowed to have contact with his wife. The couple have two young children.


His next court date is May 26 at 2 p.m.


Kaczenski spent three seasons as the Huskers defensive line coach under former coach Bo Pelini from 2012-2014. New Nebraska coach Mike Riley did not retain him and was he invited to join Pelini at Youngstown State.


Kaczenski was a three-year starting center at Notre Dame (1995-97) and spent seven seasons at Iowa before joining the Huskers.
