In an emotional scene in the postgame locker room after knocking off Cincinnati at home last Saturday night, Ohio State tight end Jeff Heuerman gave the team’s game ball to two special friends of the program.
Brothers Jacob and Noah Studebaker suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder with no cure diagnosed during childhood that leads to muscle degeneration. Jacob and Noah have become close friends of head coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes program and it clearly meant a lot for Heuerman to present the game ball to the Studebaker brothers.
“This is one of the more special things I’ve got to do while at Ohio State – to hand Jacob this game ball,” Heuerman said.
The brothers also served as the Buckeyes honorary captains for the coin toss prior to the opening kickoff.
— Jeff Heuerman (@JHeuerman86) September 30, 2014 A number of college coaches across the country joined the “Coach to Cure MD” program to raise awareness for the disorder last weekend, so the Cincinnati game was chosen as the perfect weekend to honor Jacob and Noah.
