A lot of fans across the country boast that their favorite team has the toughest stadium environment in college football, but what do the coaches think?
According to a poll of conducted by ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, LSU’s Tiger Stadium is the toughest road environment for visiting teams.
Of the 128 FBS coaches, McMurphy was able to receive responses from 99 coaches, and LSU received a whopping 21 percent of the vote. The next closest was Texas A&M’s Kyle Field at nine percent.
After LSU and A&M, there were 14 other schools that received more than one percent of the vote: Oregon (6 percent), Oklahoma (5 percent), Wisconsin (5 percent), Alabama (4 percent), Clemson (4 percent), Iowa (4 percent), Ohio State (4 percent), Virginia Tech (4 percent), Auburn (3 percent), Tennessee (3 percent), West Virginia (3 percent), Florida (2 percent), Penn State (2 percent) and South Carolina (2 percent).
Additionally, 18 other schools received one percent of the vote: Arizona, Arkansas, BYU, Kansas State, Marshall, Montana, Navy, Nebraska, New Mexico State, North Dakota State, Notre Dame, Northwest Missouri State, Oklahoma State, Pittsburg (Kan.) State, Syracuse, Tennessee State, Texas Tech, and Utah.
Though there are some head-scratching entries there that received votes, the choice for LSU wasn’t all that surprising. Before Mississippi State beat the Tigers on Sept. 20, LSU hadn’t lost at home since Nov. 2012.
