Michigan's Devin Funchess declares for the NFL draft
Funchess was Michigan's leading receiver in 2014. He had 62 catches for 733 yards and four touchdowns while wearing the No. 1 jersey.
"I would like to thank my family, coaches and teammates for their support," Funchess said in a Michigan statement. "It's always been a dream of mine to play in the NFL, and I am prepared to take the next step in my journey.
"I want to personally thank Coach Hoke and his staff. I've learned life and character lessons from them, and they have helped me become a better person and man. I love Michigan. From the former players to the fans, it's a special place. The opportunity to play in the Big House in front of 100,000 strong each week, those are memories that will last with me forever. It's been an honor to strap on the winged helmet for three years with my teammates, and I will always bleed maize and blue."
Funchess was selected to the all-Big Ten second team by the league's coaches. At 6-5, 230, Funchess is listed at approximately the same height and weight as former Texas A&M WR Mike Evans and former Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin. Both receivers were first round picks in the 2014 NFL draft.
In 2013, Funchess was officially listed as a tight end and had 748 receiving yards, the most in Michigan history for a player at the position and was also a second-team all-Big Ten coaches' team selection.

UAB faculty senate approves draft of 'no-confidence' resolution against president
The symbolic resolution, according to ABC 33/40, was approved with a two-thirds majority. And before the vote by the faculty senate, a statement written by Watts was read. In it, he said that he regretted the way the school handled its recent cost-cutting decisions and the announcement of them.
In addition to cutting football, UAB also cut the bowling and rifle programs. When announcing the decision to disband the football team, Watts said the school would have to invest $49 million over the next five years into the program.
Faculty Senate Dr. Chad Epps says a vote of no confidence is one of the most powerful statements a faculty can make. He also says this move goes beyond the decision to end football, and that it's all about shared governance rather than a dictatorship.
The faculty senate met behind closed doors in executive committee for more than an hour. They decided to draft two resolutions to bring to the entire faculty. One resolution is "no confidence" in President Ray Watts.
"One of the things we considered in our executive session was the fact that to consider a vote of no confidence even causes some damage to a university where we're trying to repair some damage,' said Epps. “So the potential exists that we could have some negative effects from this. We thought about that very hard.”
The other resolution "would request a more transparent re-evaluation of the athletics program" and "that could include reinstating football."
Both resolutions, upon their completion, will be sent to each faculty member before the faculty senate convenes for a special vote in January.
Despite finishing 6-6 in 2014, UAB did not receive a bowl berth on Sunday.

David Cutcliffe reportedly turned down Michigan job
Was Duke coach David Cutcliffe approached by Michigan about the Wolverines' coaching job?
According to NFL.com's Gil Brandt, Cutcliffe was offered the job by Michigan and turned it down.

After four losing seasons, Cutcliffe's Blue Devils are heading to a third-straight bowl game in 2014 in the Sun Bowl against Arizona State. Last year's Duke team entered the ACC Championship Game at 10-2 before losing to Florida State and then Texas A&M in the Peach Bowl.
Before coaching at Duke, Cutcliffe was the head coach at Ole Miss from 1999-2004. He coached Eli Manning at Ole Miss and was Tennessee's offensive coordinator when Peyton Manning played with the Volunteers.
If Cutcliffe did spurn the Wolverines, it's possible he simply didn't want to build another program. And yes, Wolverines, there is some building necessary after the last two years of Brady Hoke's reign. Hoke and Michigan parted ways last week.
Per TheWolverine.com, the search firm Michigan has hired for the coaching search reached out to LSU coach Les Miles to "gauge his interest." However, Miles isn't atop the list for the Wolverines. San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh also continues to be mentioned as a candidate for the job.
