In addition to the arrests of defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor (who was dismissed) and safety Geno Smith, the program received bad news when sophomore wide receiver Cam Sims went down with an injury during Saturday’s practice. According to Al.com, Sims suffered a torn ACL.

With Alabama’s top three wide receivers from the 2014 season – Amari Cooper, DeAndrew White and Chris Jones – out of the picture, Sims was projected to be a candidate to move into a starting role alongside junior Chris Black and sophomores ArDarius Stewart and Robert Foster.

The 6-foot-4, 208-pound Sims caught seven passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in 12 games as a true freshman for the Crimson Tide last season. A native of Monroe, La., Sims was a Rivals.com four-star recruit in the 2014 class who was rated as the 174th-best player in the country.

Coming off a 12-2 season, the Crimson Tide is scheduled to get back on the field for its spring game on April 18.
