Fresno State mascot dies from bee sting

Fresno State's mascot, Victor E. Bulldog II, died after he was stung by a bee on Thursday.

According to the university, he went into severe anaphylactic shock after he was stung.

"Victor E. attended hundreds of Fresno State events. Everywhere he went, he attracted fans of all ages and was a loving face of Fresno State Athletics," Fresno State senior associate athletic director Paul Ladwig said in a statement.

Victor became Fresno's mascot in September of 2012 when he was introduced during a football game against Colorado.

Thursday was not a good day for bulldog mascots. In addition to the sudden passing of Victor, Butler's mascot, Blue, barfed on the court during the Big East Conference basketball tournament.
