(AP Photo/AL.com, Vasha Hunt) Alabama running back Tyren Jones has been suspended indefinitely, the university’s athletic department announced Tuesday. No explanation or timeframe was given for the rising redshirt sophomore’s suspension.

“Tyren Jones has been suspended indefinitely for conduct not to the standard of the Alabama football program,” head coach Nick Saban said in a statement through Alabama media relations.

Jones, who was also suspended by the program for a week last October, was fourth on the team in rushing in 2014, racking up 224 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries as a redshirt freshman. He finished the season third on the depth chart at running back behind Derrick Henry and T.J. Yeldon. Jones also saw action on special teams for the Crimson Tide.

Jones, who redshirted in 2013, is expected to compete for carries along with Henry and Kenyan Drake, a rising senior who suffered a serious leg injury early in the 2014 season.

Additionally, the program is bringing in five-star Damien Harris and four-star Desherrius Flowers in its 2015 class to add to the mix at running back.

Another running back, rising junior Altee Tenpenny, announced his intent to transfer from Alabama in January.
