Jimbo Fisher says reports about players are sent to 'proper channels'

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher was asked Monday about the betting allegation against UAB defensive end Chris Rabb, a friend of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston's.

Friday, UAB issued a statement saying it was looking into the allegation. Rabb is alleged by a site to have bet $5,500 on Louisville +1 in the first half against Florida State on October 30. The allegation includes that Winston, who went to high school with Rabb, knew about the bet as Florida State trailed at halftime 21-7.

Fisher said reports are sent to "the proper channels."

"Nah, how many reports do we get on guys all the time?" Fisher said. "We send it to the proper channels, they handle it and move on. When I was at LSU, when I was at Auburn, you hear things and people are sending things in all the time. We send it to the proper channels, they handle it and you move on."

When asked if he's looked in to it or if there was investigation, Fisher repeated the proper channels mantra.

"I send it to the proper channels and they move on," Fisher said.

Betting on sports is against NCAA rules. Point shaving is a federal crime punishable with jail time. Yahoo's Charles Robinson said the NCAA has nothing on the allegation against Winston. TMZ reported UAB was investigating Rabb on Friday.

FWIW, NCAA has nothing on Jameis Winston point-shaving allegation. @YahooForde & I learned it sent an email asking for any proof. That's it.

If you're looking for a good breakdown of Florida State's first half, here is one via Tomahawk Nation. While Winston has garnered many negative headlines in his tenure as FSU's starting quarterback, this is quite the stretch.
