Four Penn State players arrested in 'egg-throwing incident'
Oh, those crazy college kids.
Four Penn State players were arrested Thursday night – mischief night – for an “egg throwing situation,” according to Onward State.
The four players, tight end Brent Wilkerson, safety Anthony Smith, center Wendy Laurent and defensive end Garrett Sickels, were all charged with criminal mischief for throwing eggs at Beaver Hall, an on-campus residence hall.
Discipline from head coach James Franklin could be on the way.
“We are aware of the egg throwing situation that occurred Thursday evening and will determine the appropriate measures for the four squad members involved,” Franklin said in statement.
The incident, which was reported to police by a student at Beaver Hall, took place between 10:36 and 11:18 p.m. Thursday night.
Sickels, a redshirt freshman, has played in all seven games this season, registering three tackles and a sack. In six games, Wilkerson, a sophomore, has two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown while Laurent, who has played in four games this year, saw his most significant playing time last weekend against Ohio State. With starting tackle Donovan Smith questionable to play Saturday against Maryland, Laurent, also a sophomore, was potentially set to see some more playing time. Now his status is up in the air.
Smith has not played this season.
The Nittany Lions and Terps square off at noon Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

Jimbo Fisher got pricelessly videobombed after the Louisville game (Video)
Well, this man videobombing Jimbo Fisher has good eyebrow-moving skills.
During the Florida State coach's postgame interview with ESPN after his Seminoles beat Louisville, a man gave the camera an interesting look behind Fisher and ESPN's Samantha Ponder.
The man was apparently a bowl representative.
That's a bowl rep. Sat next to him in pressbox. RT @BrianMFloyd: What in the world is this videobomb https://t.co/WJZRGGN0oU”

Go watch football, take some pictures after the game for bowl research purposes and then get yourself seen on TV? That's a good gig you'll never want to give up.

West Virginia president E. Gordon Gee apologizes to TCU with 'College GameDay' sign (Photo)
Former Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee caused quite a stir back in 2010 when he referred to the opponents of BCS contenders like TCU and Boise State as “Little Sisters of the Poor.”
Now, four years later, Gee is West Virginia’s president and the Mountaineers, ranked No. 20 in the College Football Playoff rankings, host No. 7 TCU on Saturday.
ESPN’s College GameDay will be on hand for the Big 12 contest. To get in the GameDay spirit, Gee created the perfect sign, equipped with an apology to TCU.
Working on some signs for @CollegeGameDay! Here is one for my friends at @TCU_Athletics. http://ift.tt/1nWXo4W
— E. Gordon Gee (@gordongee) October 31, 2014
After the comments blew up in his face, Gee issued a few public apologies and later spent some time with group. The leader of the Little Sisters also said publicly that she forgave Gee.
It’s cool to see four years later that Gee has a sense of humor about it.
The two teams will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Big 12 commish Bob Bowlsby says Longhorn Network is a 'boulder in the road' of league TV plans
As Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby looks into the future of his conference’s television arrangements, one channel stands in the way.
Specifically, Bowlsby referred to the Longhorn Network – the ESPN-operated channel devoted entirely to Texas athletics – as a “boulder in the road” in the way of long-term television planning for the conference.
“(Texas) did something that almost no other institution in the country could do because of the population in the state, and we’re looking at some way to try and morph that around a little bit,” Bowlsby said, per the Austin American Statesman.
“It really begs the question about, how are we going to get our sports in the years ahead?,” Bowlsby continued. “If technology changes in the next five years as much as it’s changed in the last five years, we’re not going to be getting our sports by cable TV. I don’t know what it’ll be. But increasingly, we’re using mobile devices … Google Network and Apple TV and things like that are coming into play.”
Instead of following the pattern set by the Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC networks, Bowlsby is thinking outside the box for the Big 12.
“I’m not sure the world needs another exclusive college cable network,” Bowlsby said. “Rather than trying to do what everybody else has done, I would much rather try to figure out what tomorrow’s technology is and get on the front side of that and be a part of what happens going forward and monetize that.”
Though it was added by Dish Network, Longhorn Network has not been picked up by other cable providers like DirecTV. Additionally, the Statesman’s Brian Davis writes that Texas officials tried to “boost LHN’s value by adding football games” to its broadcast schedule, but “it’s doubtful” the league office would allow Texas to broadcast a “marquee game” on the network.
As expansion talks pertaining to the Big 12 linger, Bowlsby’s moves when it comes to future media deals is worth keeping an eye on moving forward. Navigating around LHN’s presence could prove to be a significant hindrance.

Spread Options: Dr. Saturday's Week 10 picks against the spread
After a 6-4 Week 9, we're 37-52-1 for the season. Only 15 games back of .500!
Cincinnati (-6.5) at Tulane, 8 p.m. ET FRIDAY: Cincinnati QB Gunner Kiel is listed as probable for the game, so we're banking on a strong performance from him. But don't be surprised to see QB Munchie Legaux at QB for a series or two as well. Legaux's hometown is New Orleans and it'd be a great gesture by coach Tommy Tuberville after Legaux has fought back from a knee injury. If you're looking for a reason why the Tulane offense is going to keep up with Cincinnati, we don't have one. The Green Wave hasn't topped 13 points since Sept. 20.
Duke (+3.5) at Pitt, Noon ET: The 6-1 Blue Devils are dogs? Look, we now that what Pitt did in terms of fumbles in the first quarter against Georgia Tech was absurd and may never happen again, at least to the Panthers. But the Blue Devils have become adaptable on offense and are again becoming the favorites in the ACC Coastal. We like Anthony Boone to have a good day.
Oklahoma at Iowa State (+16.5), Noon ET: No, we're not calling this a big upset, but crazy things happen in Ames, Iowa, and have you learned to trust Oklahoma this season? No? Good. Neither have we. If this was around 10 points, Oklahoma would be the pick, but Sam Richardson and Iowa State will make the game entertaining and prevent it from being a blowout. Plus, you should check in a little bit just to see a Paul Rhodes moment.
East Carolina (-7.5) at Temple, Noon ET: Alright East Carolina, here's your chance to start playing the disrespect card. The Pirates were 23rd in the rankings that came out on Tuesday. While they're in the driver's seat over Marshall for the spot for the New Year's bowl berth that goes to the highest-ranked non-qualifying conference team, there's absolutely no hope of a Playoff berth. Not that we were expecting any, but it should at least serve as good motivational fodder, right?
North Carolina (+14.5) at Miami, 12:30 p.m. ET: The Tar Heels eked out a victory against Virginia while Miami blew out Virginia Tech last week and we're of the thought this line is skewed towards Miami because of the blowout. North Carolina's offense is markedly better than Virginia Tech's at this point and will keep the game within two touchdowns.
Virginia at Georgia Tech (-4), 3:30 p.m. ET: Here's why this line is so close. Virginia is ninth in the country in rushing defense, and as we all know, Georgia Tech is a ground-based offense. However, Virginia hasn't faced a triple-option team all season. The Cavaliers' two-game losing streak goes to three and Mike London's seat gets warmer.
Florida vs. Georgia (-10.5), 3:30 p.m. ET (in Jacksonville): Muschamp's last stand? With or without Todd Gurley this should be a walk for Georgia. Yes, it's a rivalry game and the adage of never knowing what to expect can play here. But Georgia's defense has gotten better as the season has gone on and Florida's offense has regressed.
Stanford at Oregon (-8), 7:30 p.m. ET: Stanford's first in the country in scoring defense and likely has looked heavily at how Arizona upset the Ducks in Eugene earlier this season. And the Cardinal are flat out the kryptonite for the Ducks. That said, this Stanford team doesn't have the offensive capability (88th in scoring offense) to play with Oregon if the defense doesn't play an A+ game. Stanford may hold Oregon under 30, but it won't matter if the offense isn't proficient.
Oklahoma State at Kansas State (-12), 8 p.m. ET: The Wildcats at home in a night game against an opponent that has looked poor in its past two games? Give us the magic of Bill Snyder, please. Kansas State's defense is one of the more underrated units in the country and OSU QB Daxx Garman has struggled. Since tossing four TDs against Texas Tech, he's thrown three touchdowns and seven interceptions in his past seven games.
Arizona (+6.5) at UCLA, 10:30 p.m. ET: We mentioned how UCLA was 1-6 against the spread last week. And with the double-overtime win against Colorado, the Bruins are now 1-7. We're never really sure what to expect from UCLA from week-to-week and this is simply a pick that's going with the trend.

Reports: Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon resigns
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon will resign at a news conference Friday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, TheWolverine.com, and The Detroit News. The university announced late Friday morning that it’d hold a 1:30 p.m. ET news conference hosted by president Mark Schlissel, but did not provide specifics other than saying that Schlissel would be making an announcement.
According to The Detroit News, Brandon is “not expected to attend” the news conference and an interim AD is expected to be named.
Brandon’s expected resignation marks the end of a problematic last few months. In addition to the Wolverines’ 3-5 start on the football field under Brady Hoke, whom Brandon hired, Brandon has been criticized for the handling of Shane Morris’ head injury after the quarterback took a hard hit to the helmet, appeared woozy on the field, stayed in for a play and then was brought back into the game for another play later on in the game.
UM students, who had been displeased with student ticket prices and other issues, held a protest demanding that Brandon be fired soon after the incident.
Earlier this week, Stephen Ross – Michigan’s biggest donor – told the Wall Street Journal that he would not interfere with any decision involving Brandon’s job status. On Tuesday, MGoBlog, a popular Michigan sports blog, published several email exchanges between Brandon and fans. Among the testy exchanges included Brandon allegedly telling a fan: “I suggest you find a new team to support. We will be fine without you. Have a happy life.”
Brandon, a Michigan alum and former football player, was hired in January 2010.

What to watch, Week 10: Which ranked team is in for a fright?
It’s almost like the season has started anew.
With the recent release of the College Football Playoff rankings, the race is on to become one of the nation’s top four teams and now every team knows exactly how far they must go to achieve that goal..
The rankings we saw this week will be different next week thanks to several key matchups that pit ranked teams, but it will be interesting to see if the level of play changes now we’re headed down the home stretch.
Here’s what to watch in Week 10:
Game of the week:
No. 3 Auburn at No. 4 Ole Miss, 7 p.m. ET
When the College Football Playoff rankings were announced Tuesday, no one saw this game being a matchup that would knock one team out of playoff contention. Both of these programs already have a loss and can ill-afford another, especially with several one-loss teams nipping at their heels. We already know Auburn’s offense can score, but it’s defense looked suspect against South Carolina last week. Ole Miss looked great on defense in its loss to LSU, but the offense couldn’t score for three quarters and quarterback Bo Wallace let his frustration get the better of him at the end. This game will come down to the fourth quarter.
Game to watch:
No. 7 TCU at No. 20 West Virginia, 3:30 p.m. ET
Like Scoring? Hate defense? Well, this game might be right up your alley. TCU has been the big surprise of the Big 12 with an offense that has rivaled any in the country this season. Quarterback Trevon Boykin has become a legitimate Heisman contender and the Horned Frogs are poised to crash the College Football Playoff. This is exactly where West Virginia wants them. It’s easy to forget West Virginia is in the hunt for a conference title, too, and a win in this game would go a long way toward that goal. West Virginia has already held the two potent offenses it’s faced so far this season — Baylor and Oklahoma — well below their offensive average. Is TCU next?
Also check out…
No. 17 Utah at No. 14 Arizona State, 11 p.m. ET
There’s some bad history between these two teams, especially after Arizona stormed back from a 19-7 fourth-quarter deficit last season to beat the Utes 20-19. Utah has lost 10 straight to the Sun Devils dating back to 1976, but this team is probably as good as any to break that streak. This game will be all about the Utah defense shutting down quarterback Taylor Kelly and the ASU offense. Last week, the Utes were able to top Cody Kessler and USC and now put themselves in a position to grab at least a share of the Pac-12 South title. Arizona struggled some with Washington last week and this could be another hotly-contested game. One thing is for sure though, this game is definitely a reason to tune in to Pac 12 After Dark.
Don't waste your time with:
No. 15 Nebraska at Purdue, 3:30 p.m. ET
Why is this game in this section? Well, Purdue has made things interesting this season for some teams, so it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that it could do the same for the Huskers. The Boilermakers played close with Notre Dame and gave Michigan State fits before the Spartans pulled away. Those games should serve as cautionary tales for the Huskers, and behind Heisman hopeful Ameer Abdullah, they should shut this one down early.
Keep an eye on:
Bo Wallace, QB, Ole Miss
If you listen to the Dr. Saturday podcast, and you should, I expressed concern about some friction between Wallace and coach Hugh Freeze. Why? Well, Freeze threw his QB under the bus (rightfully so) after throwing up an ill-advised pass in the waning seconds of last Saturday’s loss to LSU. Similarly, Wallace not-so-subtly called out his coach for conservative play calling. Look, Wallace has been a changed player this year, but his final play against LSU, his antics toward the crowd during the game and these comments reek of the old Bo Wallace trying to surface. Wallace has helped the Rebels get this far, it would be a shame to see it all fall apart now. Can he be the composed player we’ve seen most of this SEC season against Auburn? Or will the old Bo come back to bite him?
Upset alert:
No. 18 Oklahoma (-16.5) at Iowa State, 12 p.m. ET
Strange things happen in Ames, that is an undeniable fact. While the Cyclones probably won’t win this game outright, this contest has a chance to be a lot closer than people expect. Remember, this is the same Iowa State team that gave Kansas State and Baylor a little bit of a run for their money at home, so don’t expect this game against the Sooners to be any different.

Georgia's appeal of Todd Gurley suspension denied; Gurley still eligible Nov. 15
Georgia's appeal to have RB Todd Gurley eligible sooner than November 15 has been denied.
The NCAA said in a statement this week that Gurley would be reinstated for the Bulldogs' game against Auburn on November 15 after serving a four-game suspension for accepting over $3,000 for autographing items over multiple years.
Georgia immediately appealed the decision in the hopes that Gurley could play as soon as Saturday against Florida. The suspension was upheld. It was for 30 percent of the season because of the amount of money Gurley accepted.
"We are very disappointed in tonight's decision by the Division I Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee regarding our appeal on Todd Gurley's eligibility reinstatement," a Georgia statement read. "We believe our case to the NCAA for Todd's immediate reinstatement was strong and compelling. However, we now have exhausted all available options and look forward to Todd's return to competition on November 15. The full attention of the Bulldog Nation now needs to be focused on our team and Saturday's important game against Florida."
Per the NCAA's statement, the sanctioning body considered other penalties but because of Georgia's self-reporting and cooperation on the issue, it was left at four games. Gurley will miss games against Missouri, Arkansas, Florida and Kentucky.
No Gurley against Florida on Saturday means that freshman RB Nick Chubb will start again. He has 99 carries for 569 yards this season.

Florida State Survives Against Louisville
No. 2 FSU rallies to avoid upset at Louisville
Florida State rallies from 21 down to beat Louisville, stay undefeated
Florida State seems to be at its best when its back is against the wall.
Trailing by as many as 21, the Seminoles put together a nearly flawless second half to escape Louisville with a 42-31 victory.
But the final score didn’t paint an accurate picture of how the game played out.
In the first half, the Seminoles were on upset alert.
Louisville jumped out a 21-0 lead and Florida State looked shell-shocked. Winston threw two interceptions in the first half — and would add a career-high third in the second half — and Louisville defense was playing about as well as it has all season.
But in the second half, that all changed.
Winston threw his third pick on his first pass of the second half but then managed to force a fumble and get the Seminoles the ball back.
That played seemed to spark something in Florida State as it proceeded to dominate Louisville in the second half. The Seminoles outgained Louisville 380-170 in the second half and was 5-of-8 on third down. Louisville never converted a third down.
Florida State wore down the Louisville defense and with the help of some strange and lucky bounces was able to take the lead and eventually pull away.
While Winston threw for 401 yards and three touchdowns, this was not his Heisman moment. He made several bad mistakes in the first half and early in the second and he also got away with a couple passes that also should have been intercepted. More importantly, he injured his ankle midway through the second half. While he played through the injury, it was clear he was hurting as he limped his way around the pocket.
Many picked this game to break the Seminoles winning streak, which is now extended to 24 games, but the ‘Noles pulled it out like they have in a few contests, including the national title game, during that streak.
There aren’t many more opponents that could give the Seminoles trouble as they come down the home stretch of the regular season. They host a decent Virginia defense next week and an improving Miami team the week after. After that, they host a Boston College team that beat USC, but hasn’t been that great since, and a Florida team that’s pretty miserable on offense.
Then, the ‘Noles might be looking at an ACC championship game rematch against Duke.
Following Thursday’s triumph against Louisville, Florida State’s path to the College Football Playoff just got a lot clearer.

VOD: Navy Nicki Minaj song parody talks trash about Notre Dame
Notre Dame and Navy have played annually since 1927, and most of the time (74 times to be exact), the Fighting Irish come out on top.
Despite the Irish’s current three-game winning streak in the series, some students from the Naval Academy dished out some serious trash talk via a rap video before Saturday’s matchup at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.
Though I don’t think there’s much of a chance for the 4-4 Midshipmen to knock off the tenth-ranked Irish (6-1), I am impressed with this video in all aspects – from production quality to this girl’s immaculate Nicki Minaj impression.
Even though the original song (“Anaconda”) is impossibly bad, this parody is pretty entertaining. Well done.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy tried to trademark 'I'm a man, I'm 40' from infamous rant (Video)
Though Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy has had a lot of success during his time in Stillwater, to some, he’s still best known for a post-game press conference rant from 2007.
Gundy sounded off on a local reporter who criticized quarterback Bobby Reid, who had recently been demoted to second string. Since then, the recognizable line of “Come after me! I’m a man! I’m 40!” has been replayed countless times, and in an interview with Campus Insiders, Gundy admitted that he actually tried to trademark that phrase, but someone else did it before he could.
Additionally, Gundy said people don’t say the phrase to him as much as they once did, but he has signed autographs for a fans' 40th birthdays and even caught his 12-year-old son imitating it.
On top of that, Gundy said the rant has helped the Cowboys’ program with recruiting. He even went so far as to call it a “turning point” in his career and for the OSU program.
“There’s a statistic out there that from that point on, our percentages of wins, losses, bowls, and being ranked in the top 20 of recruiting classes went through the roof,” Gundy said. “I think it was one of the turning points in Oklahoma State football and my career as a head coach.”

Oklahoma freshman RB Joe Mixon reaches plea agreement in assault case
Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon reached a plea agreement Thursday and will avoid trial for a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a July 25 incident.
According to SoonerScoop.com, Mixon, a five-star freshman, entered an “Alford Plea,” where he will receive “a one-year deferred sentence” and complete “100 hours of community service” while undergoing “cognitive behavior counseling.”
In an Alford Plea, the defendant maintains innocence, but “concedes the prosecution has enough evidence” to reach a guilty verdict.
Kevin Finlay, Mixon’s attorney, said in a statement that entering the Alford Plea was “the best course of action.”
"Today, Joe has made the decision that entering an Alford Plea to the misdemeanor and accepting the short period of probation was the best course of action at this point in his life. Joe does not want to be a further distraction to his family, friends, teammates, and the University of Oklahoma. Joe would like to apologize to everyone affected by this unfortunate chain of events. Joe looks forward to continuing towards his goal of becoming a successful student and athlete at the University of Oklahoma."
Mixon pleaded not guilty in August and was suspended by the program for the entire 2014-15 season. The police affidavit stated that the victim in the incident, 20-year-old Amelia Rae Molitor, was knocked unconscious and suffered a “fractured jaw, fractured cheek bone, fractured sinus, and fractured orbit which caused a hematoma on the left eye.”
Surveillance cameras in the restaurant where the incident took place captured the scene and Norman, Okla., police arranged a viewing of the tape for the media in September.
Following the slap (from Molitor) across the left side of his neck, Mixon unloads a violent right handed hook. There's really not a nice or clean way of saying it. Molitor immediately falls to the floor from the strike, hitting her face on the edge of the table in the process. Mixon immediately bolts out of frame.
With the plea agreement now in place, video of the incident video will likely be released soon via an open records request.
Mixon, the No. 8 overall prospect in the country in the 2014 recruiting class, has not practiced with the team since arriving on campus over the summer.

Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett expecting to play despite sprained MCL
J.T. Barrett isn't anticipating missing Saturday's game against Illinois despite a sprained MCL in his left knee. While the knee is swollen, Barrett said Wednesday that he'll need a major setback before the game to not take the field.
"It would have to be something drastic to happen between now and Saturday," Barrett said after practice via BuckeyeGrove.com. "I plan on playing on Saturday."
Barrett said his knee was sore and there was some swelling, but wore a brace on it at practice. The injury happened before halftime of the Buckeyes' double-overtime win at Penn State.
Barrett tore the ACL in his right knee in high school, so this injury doesn't have any relation to the previous one. And while Ohio State fans may be wondering why Braxton Miller missed two games last year with a sprained MCL, it's worth remembering that sprains have differing severeties and that people respond different to injuries.
"I have talked to him about it and he was just saying that everybody is different and that is what the trainer is saying, Braxton said that (his) was much more stiff and sore and things like that and that is why he needed to miss two games and mine just wasn't the case," Barrett said.
Miller is out this year after an injury to his throwing shoulder. Following a slow start in his first serious action as Miller's replacement, Barrett has played well. The Penn State game was the first time in four games that he'd thrown an interception. He's thrown 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2014.

Florida State RB Karlos Williams could be part of Title IX investigation
There could be another high-profile Title IX investigation involving a Florida State football player.
According to the Associated Press, RB Karlos Williams is subject to a Title IX investigation after allegations of domestic battery were brought against him.
Earlier in the week, Williams' former girlfriend, the woman who accused him of the offenses, said she wanted the charges dropped. However, the Tallahassee Police Department is still looking into the accusations.
But university spokeswoman Browning Brooks told The Associated Press in an email Wednesday that, ''While each set of facts and circumstances is different, as a general matter notice of any Title IX-related issues would prompt an investigation.''
The Tallahassee Police Department confirmed it is investigating an alleged domestic battery case involving Williams. It said it continues despite the woman involved filing an affidavit asking police to end the investigation.
The woman's lawyer also told the AP that he believes the university found out via social media. Earlier in the week, a screencap of pictures from what was purportedly the woman's Facebook account were being shared.
Quarterback Jameis Winston is part of a Title IX investigation after he was accused of sexual assault in 2012. Per Title IX rules, even if no charges are filed, the university must look into allegations. Winston is set to have an upcoming hearing as part of the Title IX investigation that will be presided by a former member of the Supreme Court. However, no date has been set for Winston's hearing.
DB Ronald Darby and LB Chris Casher, Winston's roommates, have already been a part of a Title IX hearing for their roles in the incident in December 7, 2012. After the delay in Florida State's investigation of Winston, lawyers for Winston's accuser asked the Department of Education to investigate Florida State.

Arkansas made a fake Heisman campaign video for Sebastian Tretola (Video)
Is Arkansas' Sebastian Tretola a Heisman contender?
Spoiler: the answer is no, but this video from Arkansas is a fantastic faux-Heisman campaign ad for the Razorbacks' guard.
The video chronicles Tretola's touchdown pass against UAB on Saturday, where he threw the ball on fourth-and-goal to long snapper Alan D'Appollonio for the touchdown. If you hadn't seen it, here's the play.
The fake beef between kicker Adam McSwain and D'Appollonio is great, but the video is worth it only for the bottom quote by Tretola. We really hope it's actually true.
"I wake up every morning, and you know, I brush my teeth with greatness, I comb my hair with greatness and I strike a Heisman pose with greatness," Tretola said.

Florida State held walk-through at public park, did not want pictures taken
Florida State plays Louisville on Thursday night in Louisville, so the Seminoles held their Wednesday walk-through at a public park.
As Adam Himmelsbach of the Louisville Courier-Journal was on a run Wednesday, he was approached by a parks employee who told him that the Seminoles were practicing not far from where he was running. So Himmelsbach went over to watch. After he was told to step back on the sidewalk by a security guard -- yes, in a public park -- he went to take a picture.
Then I took out my phone to take a picture, and two FSU staff members started freaking out.
"No pictures!"
"Put that away!"
I calmly told them that this was a public park, and that anyone can take pictures at a public park. They told me they had reserved the field. I said that I wasn't trying to use the field they had reserved. I was just taking a picture of it.
Himmelsbach then said FSU staffers noticed people further away taking pictures and they chased over towards them screaming for no pictures.
2 FSU staffers yelled & sprinted at someone who snapped pics of the walkthrough in public park http://t.co/1xV5NIg70C http://ift.tt/1E3siNc
— Adam Himmelsbach (@AdamHimmelsbach) October 29, 2014
Yes, we repeat, in a public park. Apparently Florida State likes to control things it has no jurisdiction over on road trips. (And yes, the park was near a Joe's Crab Shack, but we'll spare you any tired jokes about Jameis Winston's citation.)
The article goes into more detail, including Himmelsbach's encounter with two members of the county sheriff's office who were near the practice and said that while Florida State had the right to ask for no photography, people taking pictures had the right not to listen.
We get why FSU would not want people taking pictures of its walkthrough. However, when you practice on public land, which apparently happens regularly, you lose all right to privacy from people who have just as many rights to be there. And anyway, what's so secretive about a walk through? It's apparently not sensitive enough to be held at an empty high school field or a gymnasium somewhere.

Penn State safety Ryan Keiser still hospitalized with bowel injury
Penn State coach James franklin provided a few details about the injury that ended the season of starting safety Ryan Keiser.
Keiser is currently being hospitalized after suffering a rib injury during last Thursday’s practice, which led a small bowel injury.
Franklin said he received permission from Keiser and his family to provide details about the injury, but he declined to say how it happened. Franklin also wanted to refute rumors that Keiser had contracted an infection as a result of the injury.
“There is no infection,” Franklin said. “I wanted to make sure that we are clear.”
A source told ESPN that Keiser was not in critical condition, but "also not great."
Keiser, a senior, was a former walk-on who progressed from special teams to starting safety. He finishes his season with 25 tackles, an interceptions and three pass breakups.
“I think so highly of him, I’ve talked about trying to get him to work for us in some type of role or capacity, whether it’s player development or things like that (after the season),” Franklin said. “I think he’s one of those kids that everybody in our program respects. He’s the type of guy that, when you spend time with him, he makes you want to be a better person. He makes you want to be a better coach. He’s a special, special young man. He’s in our prayers, and his family is in our prayers and we can’t get him back here soon enough.”

TCU gets leading WR Josh Doctson back, loses backup QB Matt Joeckel
TCU leading receiver Josh Doctson will make the trip to West Virginia after coach Gary Patterson said he’s made “drastic improvement” since suffering an ankle sprain against Texas Tech last weekend.
Doctson left last week’s 82-27 blowout after suffering the ankle injury in the third quarter and did not return. There was initial speculation that Doctson had suffered a high ankle sprain, but the Fort Worth Star-Telegram cited a team source saying that wasn’t the case.
Doctson leads the horned Frogs with 35 catches for 573 yards and seven touchdowns. Against Oklahoma State two weeks ago, Doctson had 226 yards, which was one yard shy of a TCU single-game school record.
While the Doctson news was good, the word on backup quarterback Matt Joeckel was not. Joeckel suffered a season-ending knee injury in the fourth quarter of the blowout of the Red Raiders. Joeckel, a senior, has already graduated.
“It’s a shame,” Patterson said. “We gave him an ovation in the meeting on Sunday because of everything he did for us as a team, the way he came in, the way he helped Trevone (Boykin).
“I think you’re going to see him around practice, trying to help Trevone with everything, because they have a really good relationship.”
Freshman Zach Allen will serve as Boykin’s backup against West Virginia.

Boise State plans to offer full cost-of-attendance scholarships
Boise State announced Tuesday that it would be providing full cost-of-attendance scholarships to its athletes if and when it is permitted by the NCAA.
The push for full cost-of-attendance scholarships has been part of the move for autonomy in the NCAA by the Power Five conferences. The conferences want greater flexibility to create their own rules within the NCAA when it comes to scholarships and other reforms.
While Boise State isn't a member of a Power Five conference, the school can keep up with any perceived advantages Power Five conference teams could have if they agree to offer full cost-of-attendance scholarships in the near future.
"Boise State is a proven program in the collegiate athletics landscape," Boise State athletic director Mark Coyle said in a statement. "Our intent is to provide the resources available not only for football, but for each of our 20 sports, to not only win conference championships but to compete with any program on a national level."
The Pac-12 also followed in the footsteps of the Big Ten this week in announcing that it would guarantee multi-year scholarships for athletes. The Big Ten announced the move earlier in October. It's expected that the other three Power Five conferences will follow suit as well as some other non-Power Five conferences.
“This fulfills a promise we made when we announced our agenda for reform earlier this year,” Washington State president Elson Floyd said in a statement. “These reforms assure better support for all our student-athletes, reinforce that academics come first, and address the financial and health needs of our students.”

Utah's leading WR Dres Anderson out for the season with knee injury
Utah senior wide receiver Dres Anderson will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury, the university announced Wednesday.
Utah did not provide any details about the extent of the injury or when the injury occurred.
Anderson, a team captain, did play in the Utes 24-21 win against USC last weekend. He caught three passes for 30 yards.
Anderson is Utah’s leading receiver with 355 yards and four touchdowns. He was second on the team with 22 receptions.
Anderson, who is the son of former NFL wide receiver Willie "Flipper" Anderson, ends his Utah career ranked fifth on the school's all-time receiving list with 2,077 yards.
Utah plays Arizona State this weekend in a pivotal Pac-12 South game. The Sun Devils currently lead the Pac-12 South, but a Utah win would tie the two teams and give the Utes the tiebreaker with four games remaining.
